Access to Student Records

All parents of any school, public or private, have the legal right to the full academic records of their children. You must submit a formal written request. If anyone at the Galloway School denies that request, you should retain an attorney to make the request. It would be highly unlikely they will deny an attorney's request. I was able to get my chilren's records by simply asking. Do not give in to bullying and fear mongering by Bonnie Cerace or any other adminstrator at the Galloway School.

    1. Thank you. I am trying my best to get more parents to open up and share their experiences. Every time I ask them, they are affraid to say anything. Many of them said that they will freely share their thoughts and opinions once their children are out of the school since getting recoomendations and their child's records would become very difficult. Is the Galloway school a prison with Bonnie the warden?

    2. I say they need to stand up and share now. The truth is the best protection for your children! If you do not stand up in the face of adversity, you are showing your children that you back down from a bully. This is how Cerace operates. I did not back down and she never approached me or my kids. Make her fear YOU!

  2. I found out that the email for this new school forming is:

    thenewtonschool.tx@gmail.com

Contact them with any questions. Obviously, the more parents that unite and support this school, the better it will be. They have some very interesting plans for the school and have spoken with leading educators in the local community. This is a ground floor opportuinty for parents to be involved in a transparent manner with all aspects of educating their children.

  3. Well I am not surprised, I know when I wanted my child's records, they were no where to be found. This is called censorship - NO- dictatorship - NO- its called malicious intent.

  4. For many reasons, my children will not be returning to TGS after this year. I am curious what kind of problems I will face getting their transcripts. I will keep you posted.

    1. You have a legal right to all academic records for your children. If the Galloway School refuses to give you those records after a written request by you, then you should get an attorney to write a request for the records. If you want to dicuss this issue off the blog, then feel free to email me at thenewtonschool.tx@gmail.com

If you are not returning to TGS, then I would suggest you consider joining like minded parents forming The Newton School in League City. I hope that the fact I am posting with my own identity will give all parents some strength and confidence to fearlessly advocate for their children. This is a free country and we have many rights that can't be violated, even in a private school environment.

    2. To give you an update, I requested my children's records/transcripts/testscores via email on a Thursday afternoon (of last week) and picked them up the following day with a problem.

    3. With or without a problem?

Also if you don't mind me asking, where will your children attend school for 2012-2013?

Good luck to the new school. Parents considering private education options for their children should give this startup school serious consideration. Definitely an opportunity to shape the way your children are taught.

  6. I know couple of parents who had to hire attorneys to get their children's records. How very sad. Shame on you Cerace.
